Shamrock Dots

“Never iron a four-leaf clover, because you don’t want to press your luck.” -Unknown
I was lucky enough to get to do a craft with the second graders today and here’s Joe’s masterpiece:

We used the back side of a paintbrush, a toothpick, the easer on a pencil, and a wooden dowel to make the different size dots. I tried to lightly make the shape of a four-leaf clover so we could erase it after the dots dried. They all turned out so different and neat, I’d do this again. I was inspired by two things, the book The Dot and an ABC Saturday Morning commercial spot that is still stuck in my head from the 1970’s. The announcer said, “Seurat said a lot with a dot.”, as artwork appeared on the TV screen. Speaking of Georges Seurat, a famous artist.

a late night leprechaun visit

“If you’re enough lucky to be Irish, you’re lucky enough!” -Irish Saying
Well the leprechauns did a number on our house once again! Green pee in the toilets, bananas dangled from a string at the end of a hall, shoes out of the shoe basket, tangled light fixture, chairs on the tables, craziness.

And as tradition goes, last night the boys decorated an empty box and put it by a window. If the box is touched by the light of the moon while the leprechaun¬†are in our house, they must put some of their treasure inside and hide it in our home. If the boys find it, they get to keep the treasure. If they don’t the leprechauns come back and take it!

Leprechauns gave the boys shiny wrapped candy rolos and mini twix bar. Green things (their favorite color)like a bouncy ball, a green sharpie, magnetic mini frogs, a rainbow ball, shiny chains, and an electronic timer. Crazy stuff they borrowed from people’s homes….crazy leprechauns make the boys day every year! Joe found all three boxes this year!
